Ramsell Partners with Arizona Department of Health Services to Expand Medication Access to HIV/AIDS Patients

Company’s Solutions Will Help Improve Patient Access to Discounted Medication, Reduce Costs

Oakland, Calif., February 26, 2013 – Ramsell, a leading provider of innovative solutions for organizations that serve the underserved, today announced it is working with the Arizona Department of Health Services to provide access to HIV/AIDS medications for eligible patients through the state AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).

Arizona ADAP – which serves more than 850 low-income HIV/AIDS patients with limited or no coverage from private insurance or Medicaid – is the seventh state ADAP program Ramsell manages. To expand patient access to medication, Ramsell established a statewide network of more than 400 pharmacies to ensure patients did not have to travel far to fill their prescriptions.

"At Ramsell, we are focused on improving the health and safety of HIV/AIDS patients and are proud to draw upon our years of experience working with ADAP programs around the country to ensure patients have access to live-saving medications in Arizona," said Sophia Byndloss, Division President, Business Services.

In addition to providing traditional pharmacy benefits management services, Ramsell also will administer the state’s ADAP Assist program available to current Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) enrollees. ADAP Assist provides co-pay assistance for patients who have insurance, but the level of coverage is not deemed adequate under federal guidelines. PCIP is a health coverage option for people who have not had insurance for at least six months, have a pre-existing condition or have been denied coverage because of their medical condition. PCIP is a part of the ADAP Assist program and not only covers medication co-pays, but also pays premiums and medical co-pays.
