Our Heart Is In Public Health

We help public health programs maximize limited resources and improve outcomes by connecting people to the services and medications they need... for a better life.

History

Ramsell has been creating positive outcomes for the health and safety of underserved populations since 1964. What started as a community inner-city pharmacy grew into the development of an outpatient prescription benefit program for San Francisco County residents living with HIV and AIDS. In 1992, our Founder, Sylester Flowers was asked to develop an outpatient prescription benefit plan for the San Francisco city and county AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). ADAPs use state and federal funds mandated by the Ryan White CARE legislation to provide most HIV medications, as well as numerous social services, at low or no cost to qualified HIV/AIDS patients. For the next four years Ramsell managed the San Francisco ADAP as a successful pilot program. The company was chosen to manage ADAPs for Santa Barbara County in 1995 and San Mateo County in 1996.

In 1997, Ramsell was awarded a contract by the California Department of Health Services to consolidate all of the county ADAPs under one centralized program. The centralization was completed successfully within 90 days. The contract was renewed for another five years in 2000. In August of 2001, Ramsell was awarded a two-year contract to administer the corresponding program—known as the AIDS Prescription Drug Program (ADAP)—in the state of Washington. This contract was later extended for an additional two years. Now, Ramsell provides highly specialized programs for several states, and has expanded services to include 340B program management, medication therapy management, patient assistance program tools and re-entry solutions for Corrections. Our mission has always been to connect people to the resources they need, delivered with dignity, every time, to ensure their best life possible.
