Ramsell Secures Colorado 340B Contract
Oakland, Calif., October 4, 2010 — Ramsell, a pharmacy benefit and information management company announced it is working with the state of Colorado to provide its 340B Contract Pharmacy Management Solution to help manage the state's AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). The Solution will help streamline the administration and management of the delivery of pharmacy services for the 340B covered entity, especially in light of updated guidelines that increases access to discounted medications available in the program.
The 340B drug pricing program was established by the federal government in an effort to extend financial relief for specific entities providing care and services to some of the country's most vulnerable individuals. Updated guidelines now allow covered entities the option of utilizing more than one contract pharmacy per health care delivery site. Although pharmacy services for 340B programs can be delivered by the participating entity, they are often challenged with providing adequate access and services to the discounted drug program. As a result, many use a contract pharmacy model to provide all of the pharmacy services. Walgreens, a drug retailer that has a long history in providing pharmacy services to the underserved, will serve as a contract pharmacy provider for the Colorado program.
"Our solution will help providers focus on patient care instead of complicated administration of the program, which is often done manually," said Sophia Byndloss, President of Ramsell. "By streamlining the process, we can help reduce administrative costs, limit errors and improve workflow."
The Ramsell 340B solution combines pharmacy management services such as claims adjudication and utilization reporting along with a robust platform that provides specific features to manage and track 340B inventory, prevent drug diversion and determine patient eligibility. The solution is one of several offerings in Ramsell's pharmacy benefit management portfolio. The company has more than 15 years of experience in managing state drug assistance programs, including those in California, Washington, Texas and Colorado.
