"It is an honor to be a named a recipient of this prestigious award," said Flowers. "I have devoted my personal and professional life to helping the most fragile amongst us and have focused on improving the delivery of care and medication to the medically indigent."

There, in addition to making methadone solutions for patients struggling with opiate addiction, Flowers kept patient records and performed laboratory tests. He also developed and managed the first outpatient prescription plan for the department. In addition, Flowers served as an educator and was an adjunct professor of pharmacy at the University of Pacific in Stockton, California, and an assistant clinical professor of pharmacy at the University of California School of Pharmacy in San Francisco.
