Ramsell Holding Corporation Founder Sylester Flowers Honored by "Get Screened Oakland" for HIV/AIDS Community Service

"Second Annual Ceremony held at Oakland City Hall on World AIDS Day"

Oakland, CA, December 9, 2008 - Ramsell Holding Corporation founder Sylester Flowers was honored by "Get Screened Oakland" on World AIDS Day – December 1, 2008, for his commitment to serving those in the community infected with the HIV/AIDS virus. The theme of the event: "Remember Them: Champions for Humanity," unites figures and faces of global humanitarians. "Get Screened Oakland" is a year-old, city-wide program aimed at ensuring that Oakland residents ages 13 to 64 get tested for HIV.

"What "Get Screened Oakland" is doing in the community is commendable and should be a model for large metropolitan cities across the country. HIV/AIDS does not discriminate – Identifying those patients that are infected is the first step," says Eric Flowers, CEO of Ramsell Holding Corporation. "Advancements in HIV/AIDS antiretroviral (ARV) therapy has allowed those battling the virus to live stronger, longer, and healthier."

"It has been a real pleasure to serve the residents of Oakland the last 40 years – starting in 1964 with my first pharmacy – The Apothecary, in East Oakland. I am extremely honored for the recognition," said Sylester Flowers, Founder of Ramsell Holding Corporation. "My mother had instilled in me the importance of giving back to the community that has served me well, and today I have accomplished my mothers dream by creating the Flowers Heritage Foundation whose purpose is to serve the most fragile amongst us. Ramsell Holding Corporation and its subsidiaries provide the Flowers Heritage Foundation administrative and financial support so that 100% of all donor dollars can go directly to indigent programs."

"Sylester's compassionate demeanor is a real blessing to the community and his uncanny commitment to making a difference is an inspiration to the people of Oakland," added Marsha Martin, Director of "Get Screened Oakland". "If you know Sylester, you'd appreciate his humble upbringing and the values instilled by his mother. He truly is a ‘Champion for Humanity'."

The Flowers Heritage Foundation allocates 100% of donor dollars to help improve and/or save the lives of the medically indigent population with HIV/AIDS. The foundation aims to identify gaps in healthcare services and systems and treat health disparities with effective public health solutions.
