AIDS WALKChange the Course of the Pidemic!

AIDS Walk is a walkathon fundraiser that raises money to combat the AIDS epidemic. The funds raised from AIDS Walks usually benefit a local AIDS service organization (such as local ADIS Agencies, AIDS Foundations, and AIDS Projects), which provide services and advocacy for local community residents who are infected with HIV. They are also often credited for being effective tools of public outreach, community empowerment, and education for the issues surrounding AIDS.

Since 1987, the San Francisco AIDS Walk has raised nearly $74 million for HIV programs and services in the Bay Area. For 23 years, the event has been a model of cost-effective fundraising and extraordinary community activism. In 2009 alone, 25,000 participants, many of whom were members of more than 900 corporate and community teams, raised an incredible sum of $3.5 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 63 Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations.
